Waiting Room

One month of idle time — 1,181 waits totalling 33 hours — coiled onto a logarithmic spiral where colour is felt time rather than clock time.

I logged every idle interval for 30 days: queues, platforms, hold lines, loading screens. Each becomes an arc on a logarithmic spiral, its length the clock time and its colour the perceived time — pale yellow where time vanished, plum where it dilated.

The waits under 30 seconds averaged a perception ratio of 3.05. The waits over ten minutes averaged 0.41. Total clock time waited: 32 hours, 58 minutes. Asked afterwards to recall them, memory kept four.
