Each pinch plants one agent with a random heading, and around the sixteenth the field starts moving as one.
Pinch to plant. Each pinch puts one agent in the field, pointing wherever chance says. You choose where and when, never which way.
Every agent follows one rule: turn toward the average heading of its neighbours, with a little noise. Below a threshold they wander and pair up for a few seconds at a time. Plant one more and a direction nobody chose spreads through the whole field.
Nothing on screen says when it happens.
